Fox's Bow

The name "Fox's Bow" (aka Foxes Bow, formerly William Street Bow) came from the old hotel, Fox’s Hotel, on Thomas Street, which extended over the lane to form a Bow, linking Thomas Street and William Street. Fox's Bow is a classic example of a 'bow-way', a Georgian architectural building technique. A 'bow-way' was built to link two streets together without having to break the line of a building terrace. In the heart of Limerick City Centre, Fox's Bow is a quaint laneway dotted with cafés and shops.
