Rathkeale

Rathkeale is situated on the River Deel approximately 31km from Limerick City. The town dates back to at least 1289 and has been influenced by many periods of settlement over the centuries. The nearby railway line has been restored and forms part of the Great Southern Trail which stretches for 85km through the beautiful countryside of West Limerick and North Kerry. Castle Matrix which stands prominently on the southwestern edge of the town was formally the property of the Earl of Desmond. Doohyle Lake is also located nearby.
